New palaeoecological approaches to interpret climatic fluctuations in Holocenic sites of the Pampean Region of Argentina

The apparently regular and favourable climate that characterizes the Holocene as an interglacial period shows, however, important climatic instability well documented in Northern Hemisphere. These fluctuations from colder to warmer or wetter drier affected both biodiversity human societies last 12,000 years, although impact Southern America is still poorly known. We are here investigating of small mammal faunas, more sensitive changes than large mammals, combining taphonomic palaeoecological data Argentine Pampas better understand global nature effect these fluctuations. This paper pioneering applying this region methodologies practised European sites, such chorotype classification biomes overlap analyses. Pampean Region ecotone with a confluence three regions where any change conditions should be easily detected. Our results, based on requirements do not indicate severe changes, most sites show stability except for one them, which possible trend towards present (temperate/humid) can inferred.
